2012 Progress

This is kinda a meme right
Anywho I think this shows mainly my stylistic improvement, not really anatomy since that kind of stayed the same ~o~ (if I made a 2011 progress thing I'd probably have more anatomical improvements).

First half of the year I was incredibly unmotivated to finish any of my artwork :iconoelplz: So only really rough sketches there... That was also partially due to the fact I didn't use dA during that time, hm :I I just posted sketches from my planner/notebooks to Facebook, really.

January: Went nuts about Homestuck troll ships and shipped Karezi, JohnVriska, and KarkatJohn with a burning passion. Now I ship DaveJohn more... Doodled in my planner.

February: Just a Working!! doodle. I still love the series so :iconasdfghplz:

March: This got a lot of likes on Facebook for some reason .-. But I think I lost the picture itself somewhere in my desk. I considered entering it into a contest but went against it since I basically bsed the thing. (This is the last picture from 2012 that I actually used Copics on.......)

April: This got a lot of comments about 'oh why is she naked' and 'BOOBS' from my guy friends -_- Ah well. I was pretty proud of that one at the time.

May: I got into Legend of Korra and went nuts for Tahno after seeing the fandom on tumblr. Also I became a bit stressed/annoyed with school since my relationship was aggravating me. :T

June: I actually did draw a lot the latter half of the month (after school ended) but all of them are stashed somewhere in my drawers.

July: I stayed up to 3 just drawing this; it was originally supposed to be something a lot darker but it ended up like this. I'm still proud of it since I started drawing with only color pencils.

August: Didn't draw often this month since I spent 2 weeks traveling in Asia (not much time to finish up anything) but I did two nice sketches in my Moleskine while riding a Shinkansen to Osaka. They're on my pixiv and art blog.

September: Finally got into Ib! And consequently obsessed over it for the month. I was planning on doing a simplistic picture (or not) so I decided to go with a more generic anime style for their faces. Didn't come out too well since I messed up with my pens. ._. Still, I did most of it at school and was pretty happy with it.

October: Finally used SAI more, seeing as how I moved into my brother's room (he's overseas right now) and got full use to his computer!!! (Meaning also PRIVACY FINALLY FROM MY PARENTS rather than sitting in the living room with my parents flitting about) I tried different styles of coloring digitally, and sort of followed *Fishiebug 's coloring style. (Her art is wonderful)

November: Hmm, not much. Opened up commissions on my facebook but got only two orders. Started doing Homestuck update art (sort of).

December: Probably the most productive month of the whole year, I was bent on getting more than 2 colored/finished pieces done. Which I did (I'm happy with all of them) ;v;

I think last year I fully realized how much I wanted to do semi-realism, and actually forced myself to draw, /gasp/, NOSTRILS. Which is a tad difficult after spending years of drawing generic moe moe anime/manga style. And I focused a little more on anatomy, I guess. My favorite artists became semi-realism and painting artists, rather than just generic animu artists. (I still love some of them though!) I started paying more attention to people's styles and cartoony artists, when earlier I didn't really care about style (if at all, only how they drew eyes...).
I guess I matured more in 2012???? we just dont know

And as usual Homestuck occupies the majority of this
Only three of these are original :iconsawbplz:
